Mood and Behavior Changes (Psychiatric)

Sexual Behavior

Changes in sexual behavior are common in people with HD. Some people become much more interested in sex and others are much less interested. Not only can HD affect sexual desire, it can also interfere with sexual function. These changes occur equally in men and women.

Some of the reported symptoms include:

  • increased interest in sex
  • decreased interest in sex
  • sexual assault
  • high risk behaviors
  • fewer or no orgasms

What to do about changing sexual behaviors

Talk to your healthcare professionals about your concerns. They may adjust your medication to prevent  sexual side effects.

Partners should talk to each other about sexual changes and should seek out therapists for counseling.
