Safety in HD

Overview

Safely living with HD involves thinking about safety in a variety of ways. Balance and falling are concerns when walking and moving. When eating, swallowing and choking are concerns.

Not only do the physical change caused by HD cause safety concerns, so do the changes in thinking, mood and behavior. Learning more about decreasing the risk of suicide is important. And it may also be important to learn how to calm irritable aggression and have a plan in place to protect yourself, your loved one and others from verbal and physical assaults.

HD Reach and any of the members of your health care team can help ensure everyone is living in a safe environment.
