Debbi Fox-Davis - Executive Director
Debbi Fox-Davis has enjoyed a 23-year career leading and developing resources for nonprofits in North Carolina. Her career accomplishments include being the first Executive Director for Dress for Success of the Triangle; raising funding and engaging community supporters to ensure all children have permanent, safe and loving families for the Children’s Home Society of NC; raising scholarship and research funds for NC State University and running NC State’s Institute for Nonprofits online journal for nonprofit management.
Debbi has also served as the Assistant Director for Development at Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and as the Director of Development and Marketing for the North Carolina Theatre.
Debbi received her MBA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA and has worked in Taiwan and studied in China. She received her Bachelors of Arts in History from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA). Debbi is CME4HD certified.
After growing up in the Washington, DC suburbs and moving around a lot for college, internships and jobs, Debbi took up residence in Raleigh 24 years ago. Soon after she arrived in Raleigh, she met her future husband and Raleigh has been home ever since. Debbi and her husband, John, have two sons, Spencer (19) and Max (17), a dog, Hobbes and acat, Pippi. She serves on the Board of Wheels for Hope and is an active volunteer with the Dorothea Dix Park. She enjoys running, reading, travelling, cooking and eating.
Katherine Sherry, LCSW - Clinical Program Manager
Katherine Sherry, MSW, LCSW, CME4HD certified, serves as Clinical Program Manager for HD Reach. Katherine is responsible for leading, developing, and executing HD Reach’s clinical programs of outreach, family services, community building, educational programs, and networking. Katherine has a BA in Sociology from University of Maryland, and a Masters of Social Work from Hunter College. Prior to coming to HD Reach, she worked at facilities in New York, Atlanta, and most recently in Charlotte, serving clients with a variety of needs ranging from mental health issues, geriatrics, long-term care placement, to palliative care. She is also proficient in cognitive and functional assessments. Katherine has enjoyed learning more about Huntington’s disease, and is passionate about providing person-centered help to everyone in an HD family.
In her spare time she volunteers for Hospice and loves her black and white dog, aptly named Oreo!
Dr. Craig Chepke - Medical Consultant
Craig Chepke, MD is a Board-Certified psychiatrist and has been named a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He attended NYU School of Medicine and completed his residency training at Duke University. He has a private practice in Huntersville, NC, is the medical director of a residential adolescent treatment facility and serves an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry for the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Chepke has special interests in movement disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, and treatment-resistant mental illness. He has worked in his practice with people with HD and their families for years, and is grateful to be able to serve the greater HD community as a board member.
Dr. Bonnie Hennig-Trestman - Special Programs Director
Dr. Bonnie Hennig-Trestman has over 30 years of expertise providing and guiding clinical services to patients and family members suffering from neurodegenerative, physical, and psychiatric illnesses. She received her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Social Work from Boston University and her Doctorate of Social Work from Capella University. She is an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in the Department of Basic Science Education and the Director of the Carilion Clinic Huntington’s Disease Program in Roanoke, Virginia. She has over two decades of experience working with people who are impacted by Huntington’s Disease.
Dr. Hennig-Trestman is the president and owner of HTA Consulting, PLLC where she provides on-line tele-therapy to patients and their families in Connecticut, North Carolina, and Virginia. In 2018, Dr. Hennig-Trestman was awarded a seed grant from the Huntington’s Study Group to research attitudes and obstacles parents perceive when discussing Huntington’s Disease with their children. In 2003 Dr. Hennig-Trestman wrote a book called, “Talking to Kids About HD”. It has been translated into multiple languages and was revised in 2018. Dr. Hennig-Trestman has provided educational lectures to national and international audiences. Dr. Hennig-Trestman is a member of the Huntington Study Group (HSG) and the European HD Network (EHDN) and serves on the Board of Directors as the Research Co-Chair for Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization (HDYO).
Dr. Hennig-Trestman was born and raised in the Northeast but now lives in Roanoke, Virginia. She and her husband, Dr. Robert Trestman, have five adult children. Dr. Hennig-Trestman volunteers as a docent at the Taubman Museum in Roanoke, Virginia. She enjoys cooking and traveling. She is also an elite level fencer and has represented the United States as a member of multiple World Veteran Fencing Championship teams. Charlene Hudson, MSW - Triad Support Group Facilitator
Charlene Hudson is HD Reach’s Triad-area Support Social Worker. Charlene is a graduate of Wayne State University with a master’s degree in social work, where she focused her studies on interpersonal practice and cognitive behavioral therapy. She received her bachelor’s degree in public affairs, with a concentration in public policy.
While in graduate school, Charlene was awarded a fellowship through the John A. Hartford Foundation (Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education). She also completed several classes at Wayne State University School of Medicine studying health and disease at all stages in the life span.
Charlene has worked in case management, community mental health and hospice. In each role, she has focused on helping people maintain their independence and continue to live fulfilling lives.
Monica Jovans - Donor Relations Advisor
Her over twenty years in international marketing and business strategy have continued to fuel a passion for the business. At an executive level, Monica has been
instrumental in the success of global brands and intrepid start ups, such as American Express, The Swatch Group, Ralph Lauren, Crocs, Inc., and Gersh Educational Services. She has led and managed complex global projects, opened new markets, leveraged media assets, overseen global event sponsorships, and developed integrated marketing strategies, contributing to revenue growth by the millions that included one of the largest footwear IPO’s in history.
These accomplishments are notable, but it’s the often unrecognized achievements in social responsibility that have struck a chord with her. It began with her first job at American Express, where, over the course of three years, she took on the challenge of helping the company’s partner, The United Way, by influencing over 600 employees in
corporate gift matching and volunteer work in NYC communities . At Crocs, Inc., Monica led a global recycle program, a humanitarian donation initiative, and community outreach programs across the company’s global offices. While at Ralph Lauren, she collaborated to create a globally recognized, year round cause marketing campaign to raise monies for breast cancer research, now recognized in over 65 countries . Her current work at So Core Ltd. is to help companies and nonprofit organizations in scaling growth through the corporate social responsibility and sustainability lens.
Monica does not follow. She leads and takes action to make a positive imprint on people and our planet. Monica’s work in philanthropy is recognized across healthcare, arts & culture, technology, animal welfare and women in business. She continues to apply value drive strategy to create collective partnerships.

Marie Boubane - Donor Consultant
Marie Boubane has recently joined the HD Reach team as Director of Donor Relations. She has more than 15 years raising funds in International Development and Human Rights sectors. Seeing how a life can be transformed by the organizations she works for only fuels her passion to raise funds and make lasting connections between beneficiaries, donors, volunteers and staff. Marie graduated with a BA from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) and holds a Certified Fund Raising Executive Certificate (CFRE).
Having a son with special needs, Marie has become an advocate for Mental Health issues and has a better understanding of the effects of diseases that are underfunded, silent and/or sometimes invisible on patients and their families. It just feels natural to be part of the HD Reach team.
Marie moved to the Triangle area from Ottawa, Canada with her two children and husband. She enjoys meeting people, traveling, sampling foods for all over the world and relaxing by the beach.
Crystal Eve Outlaw, MSW, LCSWA - Raleigh Support Group Facilitator
Crystal Eve Outlaw, MSW, LCSWA serves as HD Reach's Raleigh Area Support Social Worker. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Crystal moved to North Carolina in September 2013. She attended The Pennsylvania State University where she earned a B.A. in Communications and graduated with a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Community Organizing and Social Administration from The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work.
Crystal brings experience with case management, mental health facilitation , teaching, mentoring, and civic/ community engagement to our team. Crystal believes in empowerment and purpose and she strives to engage others in this practice within her various roles.
In her spare time she enjoys relaxing and spending time with her family.
Robert Trestman PhD, MD - Medical Consultant
Dr. Robert Trestman is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology and M.D. from the University of Tennessee, and trained in psychiatry and neurobiology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Trestman came to Carilion Clinic from UConn Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut, where he was a tenured professor of Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Trestman has studied the neurobiology and treatment of people with severe mood and personality disorders, and conducts translational research on mental health. He has authored over 180 peer reviewed articles and other publications, and is the senior editor of the first textbook in the field of correctional psychiatry, the Oxford “Textbook of Correctional Psychiatry”. Dr. Trestman has given over 150 regional, national, and international invited presentations. Dr. Trestman serves on two American Psychiatric Association Councils (Psychiatry & the Law and Health Systems & Funding), on the American Hospital Association’s Council for Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Services, serves as Chair of the Research Committee of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law Institute for Education and Research, and chairs the American Association of Chairs of Departments of Psychiatry’s Clinical Enterprise Committee.
Dr. Trestman was born in New Orleans, LA and has resided in the Northeast since 1985. He and his wife, Dr. Bonnie Hennig-Trestman now live in Roanoke, Virginia. They have five adult children. Dr. Trestman enjoys cycling, traveling, and fencing.
Kelly Yaworski - Operations Manager
A native North Carolinian, Kelly fell in love with nonprofits when she was only a teenager. Inspired by volunteering with the SPCA at a young age, Kelly quickly developed a deep passion for charitable work. This resolve stuck with her through college, leading her to pursue a B.S. in Statistics with a minor in Nonprofit Studies from North Carolina State University. Kelly came to HD Reach as an intern during her undergraduate program. Kelly liked the work with the HD community so much that she joined HD Reach as the Operations Manager. She provides support to the HD Reach team, leads the HD Reach Volunteer Program, manages HD Reach’s website and social media. She has a unique perspective on serving others and on utilizing data to support HD Reach’s clinical programs, donors, and volunteer services. Kelly is most passionate about dogs, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
